Buddy TV

Working on a series like ER can be quite a chore, considering the actors have to continuously immerse themselves in the medical world to ensure their portrayals are accurate. However, after four years of working on the series, Linda Cardellini claims she has grown to love even the difficulties of the job.

"When I first got here, it was easily the most difficult acting job I'd ever had," Cardellini told the New York Daily News. "It's very technical, with the medical stuff, learning the choreography of the trauma scenes and all the behaviors you need. Now I love it."

Linda Cardellini joined ER as nurse Samantha Taggart in 2003, and thought that she wouldn't be in the show for too long.

"I'd signed a contract for a year and a half," she said. "I thought, 'Okay, I'll do a stint on TV for a while.' At that point, I'd only been on TV shows that were canceled."

However, her stint eventually turned into a regular gig, and now Cardellini doesn't want to leave ER, especially since one of the perks of being on the show is having extra time to work on other projects. In the past two years, she appeared in several films, including Brokeback Mountain, American Gun and Grandma's Boy. Now, she's costarring on the CBS miniseries, Comanche Moon.

"There are times when you long to play other characters,” Linda Cardellini told the New York Daily News. "Fortunately, on ER we get a chance to do other things while we're working on the show. And, there's an interesting process playing the same character for so long. You have to continuously challenge yourself."

That said, fans can look forward to seeing more of Cardellini on ER, a show that has survived numerous cast changes in the 13 years that it's been on the air.

"It's a little amazing," Cardellini said. "With every new re-creation of the show, everybody fears it's going to kill itself. But it keeps on keeping on."
